Our Olive Oil/Wine Tasting Tours In Sabina

Tour 2: Farfa, Cooking Lesson and S. Maria in Vescovio

This day trip from Rome includes a food and wine tour starting with a visit to the Abbey of Farfa and olive oil tasting in the oleoteca, as described in Tour 1.

The tour continues with:

Cooking lesson: “Chef” Anna will teach you how to cook a genuine, traditional full course lunch. Starting from baking bread, preparing homemade pasta…. Several possible menus strictly prepared with a base of the famous Sabino extra virgin olive oil. If part of your group is not interested in cooking lessons we can suggest some walking tours in the area.

Visit at church of s. Maria in Vescovio: It is one of the most celebrated monuments of the Sabina. It was built using materials taken from the ancient Roman town of Forum Novum. Inside the church are 11th century frescos by roman artist Pietro Cavallini and a 9th century pulpit and frescos.

Across the road are the ruins of an ancient Roman market where St. Peter is said to have stopped for refreshments.

Forum Novum: Visit to Forum Novum (Augustan period), where the excavation brought to light many of the public spaces of the area: the forum, the basilica, workshops, a temple and a funerary monument.
