Valentino at the Ara Pacis in Rome
45 Years of Style
ROMA celebrates one of the greatest designers of our times on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the "MAISON VALENTINO." The festivities were held in one of the most impressive and important archeological sites in Rome: the ARA PACIS. The altar represents one of the most significant examples of Augustan art and has historically symbolized peace and prosperity.
In this retrospective, with some 360 costumes and rare, archived materials, visitors can admire many of the most significant creations of the great couturier, among which the first red gown designed in 1950 and many of the gowns worn by celebrities including the one worn by Farah Diva the day she left Persia, the gown Sophia Loren wore at the Academy Awards when she won the Lifetime Achievement Award, gowns designed for Hollywood such as the one worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffiany's as well as gowns designed for Lady Diana, Elizabeth Taylor and Sharon Stone.
ROME, once again, affirms it role as a city in which modern and ancient art live side by side.
