The Sulphur Springs and Spa
On Via Tiburtina, 20 km. from Rome and 8 km. from Tivoli, the sulphur springs that have their source in the lakes Regina and Colonnelle are to be found. They are still known by their original Roman name, "Acque Albule" (Albule Waters).

Half the day will be spent by relaxing and thermal therapy.

Description of Spa Treatments

The idropinic theraphy:
The spa water as a drink is useful in the treatment of hepatic-bilious dyspepsia, constipation, chronic colitis, occupational intoxication and as a valid complementary therapy for some forms of diabetes.

The inhalation techniques (aereosol):
Heat and humidity used in the inhalation techniques and the use of aerosol represent one of the main fields of modern sulphureous crenotherapy due to the excellent results that can be obtained in the prevention and treatment of recurrent and chronic inflammatory diseases and of some hypersensitive forms of allergies of the respiratory tract especially in children.

Insufflations and inhalation theraphy:
Insufflations and inhalation techniques are used in the treatment of rhinogenous hypoacusia and catarrhal typanitis; diagnoses and periodic checkups are integrated with audiometric and tympanometric tests.

The sulphureous mud-baths:
The sulphureous mud-baths are particularly effective in the treatment of rheumatic diseases; arthrosis, muscular rheumatism and post-traumatic effects. The results in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation are excellent.

The balneotheraphy and hydromassage:
Balneotherapy and hydromassage are used in the both the treatment of rheumatic diseases and in the treatment of some dermatological disorders such as psoriasis, chronic eczema, acne and tinea versicolor as well as in peripheral blood circulation disorders.

The swimming pool:
The "Acque Albule" spa has four swimming pools covering a total area of 5,500 square metres. Two of them are particularly suitable for children while the others are for adult swimmers. They are equipped with diving-boards and small cascades for natural hydromassage.

All the swimming pools are surrounded by centuries-old eucalyptus trees. Trained staff are always on duty. The particular purity and the natural chemical characteristics of the "Acque Albule" swimming pools and the vast, continuous flow of the water that feeds them, make this spa a unique place for recreation, sport and health at world level.

Taking a swim in the swimming pools is beneficial in more ways than one. As well as the positive effect of the swimming itself and of the sulphur on the skin, the natural inhalation is beneficial to the respiratory system.
